FORT WORTH, Texas, July 26 (UPI) -- A professional online poker player says it's time to overturn a law that prevents U.S. gamblers from using their credit cards at gaming Web sites.
David "The Maven" Chicotsky, 29, a Fort Worth, Texas, native and winner of Bluff Magazine's 2008 Online Player of the Year title, says the repeal efforts, led by U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., would give a huge boost to the online poker industry, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Sunday.
"I'm just trying to make a living," Chicotsky told the newspaper. "On the Internet, there are games 24/7. You can do it from the comfort of your own home, and when you make a mistake at home, people don't see you. If they do make this openly legal, it will be unbelievable for poker players -- they can get sponsors like race car drivers … and bring a lot more people into the game."
"This is not about a moral issue," added Dan Michalski of Dallas, who runs a poker Web site. "This is a matter of sensible government."
Frank's legislation would erase a current ban that prevents banks from transferring customer's credit card funds to online gambling sites, the Star-Telegram said.
