LONDON, July 21 (UPI) -- A wildly popular Internet video of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews undressing in her hotel room is being used to spread computer viruses, experts warn.
The British anti-virus company Sophos.com warned Monday in a release that online scammers have created phony Web pages alleging to link to Andrews video, but which, in fact, entice users into accepting "malware."
"Of course, hackers are no slacks when it comes to taking advantage of a hot internet search trend, and although the real video has now been removed from YouTube, they have been quick to set up bogus Web pages claiming to contain the video footage of Ms. Andrews in her hotel room," the company said.
Sophos.com one hacker has created a Web page that resembles CNN's video feed site and urges users to disable pop-up window blockers on their browsers to watch the video.
"If you go searching for sleazy videos then don't be surprised if it's not just your mind that ends up corrupted, but your computer, too," the company said.
An attorney for Andrews confirmed to the New York Post Monday the glamorous TV sports reporter had been surreptitiously filmed nude through a peephole in her hotel room door.
