FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn., July 19 (UPI) -- Autopsies were performed Sunday on five people killed in Tennessee, allegedly by a man who is also accused of killing another person in Alabama, police said.
Jacob Shaffer, 30, of Fayetteville, Tenn., was being held in the Lincoln County Jail Sunday while authorities investigated his alleged two-state killing spree.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a written statement the victims found dead in Fayetteville included Shaffer's wife and her teenage son, brother and father. Also killed was a 16-year-old neighbor.
The sixth victim was found 30 miles away in Huntsville, Ala. The victim's name has not been released.
CNN said investigators have not discussed a motive for the slayings, although authorities reportedly have discussed the possibility the killings were sparked by a domestic dispute.
