BERNBURG, Germany, July 18 (UPI) -- A spokeswoman for the German municipality of Nachterstedt says a landslide Saturday has left three people are missing and feared dead.
The unidentified spokeswoman said the married couple and a man were all residents of a semi-detached home in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt that was tipped into Lake Concordia by the landslide, the German online newspaper The Local reported.
Authorities suspect all three individuals were sleeping in the home when it was hit by the landslide, which measured about 1,150 feet in length and nearly 394 feet wide. The identities of the three possible victims were not reported.
According to German media reports, a portion of another home and a street also went into the lake. Nothing was reported regarding possible fatalities or injuries from the second home.
The home where the suspected victims lived is now submerged. Rescue efforts were hindered by the risk of additional landslides, the Local said.
