BEIJING, July 18 (UPI) -- Eight swine flu cases in China have resulted in more than 100 U.K. and U.S. students and teachers being quarantined, officials say.
The BBC reported Saturday that while the U.K. and U.S. school groups are being isolated in Beijing, eight students with confirmed to have the H1N1 influenza are in stable condition at a hospital in the Chinese capital.
Four of the students with swine flu are from the United States and four are from Britain.
The school groups had been visiting China to learn about the country's culture and language.
The BBC said the emergency response by China to the students' swine flu cases marked the most recent attempt by the country to contain the illness through immediate quarantine measures.
Since swine flu began spreading around the globe this spring, China has quarantined hundreds of non-residents suspected of having the H1N1 virus or having come into contact with a swine flu patient.
