NEW YORK, July 17 (UPI) -- Motivational speaker Jeffrey Locker was found fatally stabbed and strangled inside his car in New York, police sources say.

The unidentified sources said the 52-year-old Long Island motivational speaker had been seen purchasing condoms hours before his bound body was found in East Harlem Thursday, The New York Daily News reported Friday.

"He got out of the car and bought a bottle of water and a pack of Trojan condoms. He seemed cool, relaxed," Harlem resident Whitney Young, 19, said. "The next time we see him, he's here dead."

Investigators suspect one individual strangled Locker with a cord during the killing while another individual stabbed him from the passenger seat.

Locker was reported missing Wednesday night by his wife Lois.

The father-of-three's mother-in-law, Annette Serota, told the Daily News her son-in-law's death was likely the result of his trusting nature.

"He probably trusted someone," Serota said. "He was a very trusting person. That's probably how it happened. You could sell him the Brooklyn Bridge."
