OKLAHOMA CITY, July 17 (UPI) -- Authorities in Oklahoma City are holding a woman in the stabbing of a 5-month-old baby rescued from the trash at a convenience store.

The infant boy was in critical but stable condition Friday at the Oklahoma University Medical Center, The Oklahoman reported.

The newspaper says Latisha Harmon, 24, believed to be the mother of the child, is being held on complaints of assault with a dangerous weapon and child abuse.

She was arrested early Friday after witnesses called police to report seeing a woman stabbing a baby in the parking lot of a Circle K store.

A man who tried to stop the incident was also stabbed, police say.

"She was obviously high on something," Police Lt. Jeff Cooper said. "We don't know exactly what she was high on."
