HAWTHORNE, Calif., July 16 (UPI) -- A single-engine airplane crashed near Los Angeles, killing all three people on board, fire officials said.

Witnesses said the plane, thought to be a Beechcraft G36, plunged nose-first into a parking lot of a six-story building near Hawthorne Airport, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles reported Wednesday.

Allen Kenitzer of the Federal Aviation Administration said the plane apparently struck the building and a car. Officials said no one on the ground was injured and the building did not sustain damage.
