PITTSBURGH, July 16 (UPI) -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rocky Bleier says the city plans to host a dinner intended to raise funds for the Flight 93 Memorial.

Bleier said the dinner scheduled at Heinz Field Sept. 11 would be a way to benefit the site near Shanksville, Pa., while remembering the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Thursday.

"The whole idea of this is that we never forget the people on that flight and what they did for all of us," said Bleier.

Passengers on Flight 93 attempted to regain control of the airplane from terrorists, causing it to crash Shanksville instead of into a populous area.

Retired U.S. Army Gen. Tommy Franks and former Gov. Tom Ridge are among those scheduled to attend the upcoming Heinz Field dinner. Estimates of the potential were not reported. Tickets for the dinner cost $793 each.

The Tribune-Review said the event will take place the same day as a Golf Supports Our Troops outing involving Steelers players and an auction to benefit the military employee support organization Soldiers Angels.
