PHILADELPHIA, July 13 (UPI) -- Jill Biden, wife of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, was in Philadelphia Monday for outpatient surgery on her shoulder, the White House said.

The procedure at Thomas Jefferson Hospital is to relieve pain she has been experiencing in her shoulder, the daily schedule released by the White House indicated.

Biden, 66, was to accompany his 58-year-old wife to the hospital, and they planned to spend the rest of Monday and Tuesday at their home in Delaware.
