LAS VEGAS, July 13 (UPI) -- The trial of a former Clark County, Nev., teacher charged with sex offenses has been set for March 15, 2010, a district attorney's office spokesman said.
District Judge Michael Villani set the trial date Monday morning.
Charles Richard Rogers, 46, of Boulder City, 20 miles from Las Vegas, was arrested March 26 after police received a computer storage device they were told came from his house, Chief Deputy District Attorney Stacy Kollins told the Las Vegas Sun. A Web site called "Bad, Bad Teachers" reported the police received an anonymous letter along with a flash drive.
He was charged with 76 counts of sexual assault of a minor, lewdness with a child, use of a child in pornography and possession of child pornography. The indictment alleges a search of both his home and classroom netted videotapes and computer media with images of Rogers involved in lewd acts with children, the newspaper said.
Rogers is a former science teacher at Garrett Junior High School. He also coached soccer and served as a foster father. He remains in the Clark County Detention Center on $1.3 million bail.
