BEIJING, July 13 (UPI) -- East Turkestan separatists carried out well coordinated and violent attacks on overseas missions after the Urumqi riots, China said Monday.
The attacks included the use of stones and Molotov cocktails and the burning of Chinese national flags, and targeted Chinese embassies and consulates in several countries, the official Xinhua news agency said.
The incidents came soon after the July 5 ethnic violence in Urumqi, capital of China's northwest Xinjiang-Uighur region in which 184 died, Xinhua said.
To support its charge the separatists were well coordinated, China said the attacks occurred only hours after the start of the riots.
In Los Angeles, the report said, a group of 30 people threw eggs into the Chinese consulate building. Last Monday, the report said two unidentified men threw homemade gasoline bombs on the Chinese consulate in Munich, Germany.
In a speech before a gathering in Washington, Rebiya Kadeer, leader of the World Uighur Congress, urged foreign governments to support the group's separatist movement, Xinhua said.
The report said demonstrations, some violent, also were held at Chinese embassies in Turkey, the Netherlands, Norway, Australia, Japan and Sweden.
