WWII-era shell detonates, hurts 7 campers

KALININGRAD, Russia, July 12 (UPI) -- A World War II-era artillery shell exploded in a Russian forest, injuring seven campers, an official source says.

The unnamed source at the Kaliningrad regional interior affairs department told the Russian news agency ITAR-TASS the shell detonated about 1 a.m. Sunday in a campground near the city where the tourists had started a campfire.

Those injured in the blast were reportedly taken to hospitals, with the eldest victim said to be 29 while the youngest is 19.
