Philippine president to visit White House

WASHINGTON, July 12 (UPI) -- Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will visit President Barack Obama in Washington this month, the White House announced.

Arroyo is scheduled to visit the White House July 30. She will be the first Southeast Asian leader to visit since Obama took office.

The White House said in a press release the two leaders will discuss enhancing U.S.-Philippine cooperation on issues such as counter-terrorism and climate change.

Arroyo will meet members of Congress and other government and private sector officials as well, the announcement said.
