TEHRAN, July 11 (UPI) -- An Iranian-American social scientist has been arrested by Iranian security forces in Tehran and his home ransacked, family members say.

Kian Tajbakhsh and his computer were hauled off Thursday by police for reasons not immediately clear, family sources told CNN. The broadcaster said Tajbakhsh was imprisoned briefly in Iran in 2007 on charges of endangering national security.

The arrest comes after weeks of violent protests in Iran after Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared a landslide second-term winner of the country's presidential elections.
