TORONTO, July 11 (UPI) -- About 30 adults and children on a school bus that overturned Saturday in Ontario escaped serious injury, Canadian police said.

The bus was bringing the group home from a summer Bible camp when it overturned, the Toronto Star reported. The crash occurred at a highway intersection near Bradford-West Gwillimbury, about 30 miles north of Toronto.

Constable Graham Williamson of the Ontario Provincial Police said many of the passengers were hurt, but there were no life-threatening injuries. The bus was severely damaged, and extricating the people took some time.

Highway 400 was closed for several hours while the bus was removed.
