Air show pilot killed in Missouri crash

TARKIO, Mo., July 11 (UPI) -- Police in Tarkio, Mo., say a female pilot died when she crashed her airplane was practicing for a weekend air show.

Tarkio police told The Kansas City Star the 36-year-old pilot, whose name was not released, had been using her single-passenger aircraft to practice aerial acrobatics Friday when it crashed at Gould Peterson Municipal Airport.

B.J. Scott, a Wing Nuts Flying Circus air show spokesman, said the deadly crash did not involve any other airplanes or people.

Scott added the air show scheduled for Saturday would go on.

No cause for the crash of the Edge 540 aircraft was reported, but the Star said the Federal Aviation Administration was looking into the incident.
