ZAGREB, Croatia, July 10 (UPI) -- Croatian police arrested a 50-year-old Czech tourist for taking photos of naked children on a Krk Island beach in the northern Adriatic Sea, officials said.
Police reacted to a citizen's report Thursday afternoon advising them the man was taking pictures of children on the Krk beach, off the port city of Rijeka, Croatia's Javno.hr Web site said Friday.
Officers at the police station uncovered a total of 2,589 photos of children, ranging in age from 3 to 6, on his photo camera and memory cards.
There were 37 girls and three boys on the photos, the Web site said.
Police said the man was detained on founded suspicion of committing crime of abusing children for pornography.
The man is to be taken to the Rijeka district court, police said.
