KINGSTON, Jamaica, July 10 (UPI) -- Residents of Kingston, Jamaica, say the killing of a New Zealander in a robbery has them on edge.

The Jamaica Observer said Friday one of the residents of the post Golden Triangle neighborhood posted a warning on the social networking Web site Facebook warning residents of dangerous gangs in the area.

"There is some possible collusion between the gangs and security guards and gardeners to indicate the movements of persons. Persons need to be extra vigilant and exercise great caution, particularly at night," the unidentified resident said online.

The posting comes after New Zealand national Tiki Hunia was fatally shot by two armed robbers in an area guest home.

The robbers had been attempting to rob Hunia and his wife of a cell phone when Hunia attempted to confront them. TVNZ (New Zealand) said Hunia's wife was not hurt in the incident.

Superintendent Terrence Bent of the St Andrew Central Police Division told the Observer a meeting has been scheduled for next Wednesday that will allow residents to voice their concerns regarding recent robberies in the area.
