Obama, Aso agree on N. Korea tactics

L'AQUILA, Italy, July 8 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama and Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso agree on how to deal with North Korea's nuclear threat, a White House statement says.

The two world leaders at the Group of Eight summit in Italy discussed the global economic malaise and "reaffirmed the importance of economic stimulus and appropriate regulation to overcome current difficulties," the statement by National Security spokesman Mike Hammer said.

"They also discussed North Korea and agreed on the importance of full implementation of UNSCR 1874 and the denuclearization of North Korea," Hammer said.

Obama and Aso also see the upcoming Major Economies Forum meeting on climate change and a successful outcome of the Conference of the Parties meeting in Copenhagen in December as important steps in dealing with global warming, Hammer said.
