NEW YORK, July 8 (UPI) -- The wife of convicted Wall Street financier Bernard Madoff is no longer without a passport, her attorney says.

Peter Chavkin told CNN Wednesday that the government has returned the passport Ruth Madoff surrendered last December when she posted bail for her husband.

Chavkin would not reveal whether Ruth Madoff has plans to leave the country or exactly when her passport was returned.

Bernard Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison last month for masterminding the largest Ponzi scheme in United States history.
