GROZNY, Russia, July 8 (UPI) -- A militant Ingushetian warlord, Rusteman Makhauri, has been arrested in a raid by Russian police, officials say.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov said Wednesday that Makhauri was taken prisoner and four other militants were killed during a special operation in the south Russian republic of Ingushetia near its border with Chechnya, RIA Novosti reported.

One police officer was killed and seven were wounded in the battle, the president said.

Kadyrov made the announcement during a meeting with his interior minister, Ruslan Alkhanov, who told the news agency, "According to our data, there are other fatalities among militants, but the search for the bodies is difficult because the forest where the special operation is being conducted is very dense."
