Bosnian Serb accused of 1992 war crimes

BELGRADE, Serbia, July 8 (UPI) -- Serbian prosecutors in Belgrade filed charges against a former Bosnian Serb soldier on suspicion he killed two Bosnian Muslim civilians in 1992, officials said.

The Serbian prosecutors' office for war crimes charged Nenad Malic, 48, with killing two Muslim civilians outside a cafe at Stari Majdan, near the western Bosnian town of Bihac on Dec. 21, 1992, and attempting to kill another Bosnian Muslim civilian.

Malic, a former member of the Bosnian Serb military forces that fought Bosnia's Muslims and Croats during the 1992-95 war, has been in detention in Belgrade since Jan. 9, the Serbian news agency Beta reported Wednesday.

In 2002, the Cantonal Court in Bihac accused Malic of the same Stari Majdan war crime, and in 2008, the Justice Ministry of Bosnia-Herzegovina transferred the case to Serbian judiciary authorities for further prosecution under a bilateral agreement on international legal assistance.
