Obama, Medvedev look maintain talks at G8

MOSCOW, July 7 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said they looked forward to talking at the Group of 8 meeting later this week in Italy.

"(We) are also getting prepared to go, the two of us, to Italy and there we'll continue discussing of matters," Medvedev said during a joint media availability with Obama.

"Absolutely," Obama responded.

Obama said his second day of meetings with Russian leaders was productive, carrying over from Monday's talks with Medvedev that resulted in the signing of documents on nuclear arms reduction, exchanges on cultural, educational and development levels, non-proliferation of nuclear weapons worldwide and several military matters.

"I had a good conversation with the prime minister, and I think that his approach to these issues was very similar to yours, and I think that we have the potential of doing some very important business together," Obama said.
