Men face cruelty charges in bull dragging

AUBURN, Wash., July 7 (UPI) -- A bull is recovering from a half-mile dragging, say authorities in Washington who jailed two men accused of tying it to a car.

King County sheriff's deputies told The Seattle Times they found the bull splayed on the road when they answered emergency calls about 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The animal was tied to the rear of a 1989 Buick Century. Police didn't release the names of the men in the car but said one was 75 years old from Auburn and the other 57 years old from Federal Way.

Both men, who may face first-degree animal cruelty charges, allegedly told deputies they had moved the bull tied to a car before because it is stubborn.

The animal had bleeding wounds on his legs and feet, but got up and moved to the shoulder of the road to graze, the newspaper said. The Washington State Animal Response Team took charge of the bull. Spokeswoman Gretchen McCallum said its legs are stiff and some of its wounds are deep.
