Arson suspect arrested in townhouse fire

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, July 6 (UPI) -- A 19-year-old Toronto man has been charged with setting two fires that destroyed at least $10 million in townhouses under construction, authorities said.

Adam Zyskowski, who lived within walking distance of the 60-townhouse site, was arrested Saturday and charged with two counts of arson, The Toronto Sun reported Monday.

Zyskowski is a suspect in fires at the site Feb. 22 and June 29. He was to remain in custody pending a bail hearing Thursday.

Zyskowski has no criminal record and was not known to the police as an arson suspect previous to his arrest, police spokesman J.P. Valade said.

Last week's three-alarm fire, just west of the Toronto border in Mississauga, took 50 firefighters more than two hours to bring under control, the Sun reported. No injuries were reported.
