HERMOSILLO, Mexico, July 5 (UPI) -- Mexico has issued arrest warrants for a total of 23 people linked to a daycare fire that killed 48 children in Hermosillo, authorities said.

Nine new warrants were announced amid protests from parents who complained the government was not doing enough to investigate the deaths, CNN reported Sunday.

Fourteen children remain hospitalized with injuries suffered when an air conditioner caught fire June 5 at the ABC daycare center owned by the Mexican Institute of Social Security.

The latest arrest warrants, issued Wednesday, involved daycare employees and local Social Security officials, the Mexican federal attorney general's office said.

Another 14 people who worked at the center were arrested last month.
