HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., July 4 (UPI) -- A social worker from Hauppauge, N.Y., allegedly posted a sexually suggestive ad on Craigslist involving a 9-year-old girl, prosecutors said.
Margery Tannenbaum pleaded innocent Thursday to charges of aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a minor, CNN reported Saturday.
Tannenbaum allegedly posted the online ad to get revenge for an argument the 9-year-old had with Tannenbaum's daughter at school, CNN reported Saturday.
"I need a little affection ... I'm blond, I'm cute and I'll be waiting," stated the ad, which listed the 9-year-old's phone number but did not reveal her age, Suffolk County prosecutors said.
The mother of the 9-year-old told police she intercepted about 40 calls from men who read the ad. "It's scary to think that someone would take any issue and attack your child," the victim's mother said.
Police said they traced the ad to Tannenbaum after serving Craigslist with a subpoena for information. Tannenbaum's attorney, Tad Scharfenberg, said the incident had been "blown out of proportion" and described Tannenbaum as "really upset by the whole thing."
