GAFFNEY, S.C., July 3 (UPI) -- The same person is believed responsible for four killings around the small city of Gaffney, S.C., investigators said Friday.

The most recent victim, Stephen Tyler, 48, was shot to death Thursday night inside his store, Tyler Home Center, The Gaffney Ledger reported. His daughter, Abby, 15, was shot in the head and seriously injured.

Abby Tyler was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center by helicopter.

Hazel Linder, 83, and her daughter, Gena Linder Parker, were killed at Linder's home Wednesday afternoon. Both women had been tied up and shot, WSPA-TV, Spartanburg, reported.

Kline Cash, 63, a peach grower, was killed last Saturday. Investigators said the killer came to the property saying he was interested in buying hay.

Cherokee County Sheriff Bill Blanton said all four killings appear to be the work of a single person and, by the FBI definition, a serial killer.

A task force of 50 investigators from the FBI and state and local agencies has been assembled, the Ledger said.
