JERUSALEM, July 2 (UPI) -- Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu called Israel's bond with the United States unbreakable at a Fourth of July reception.
Speaking at a reception hosted by U.S. Ambassador James Cunningham Wednesday night, Netanyahu emphasized Israel is on good terms with the United States, and under no circumstances is that about to change, Maariv quoted him as saying Thursday.
"President Obama's talked in his speech of the unbreakable bond, hence the bond between Israel and the United States is unbreakable," Netanyahu said referring to Obama's speech in Cairo.
The United States is a role model for freedom and values, and streets in Jerusalem have been named after former U.S. presidents, Netanyahu noted.
While refraining from specifying Iran by name, Netanyahu warned, "The greatest danger facing the world today is the historical consistency of the triumph and spreading of democracy could change if the world's worst regime acquires the world's most dangerous weapons," the paper quoted him as saying.
