WASHINGTON, July 2 (UPI) -- The importance of job creation while the U.S. economy is in a recession was on President Barack Obama's agenda for Thursday.

Obama was scheduled to meet with leaders of large and small businesses to discuss the necessity of job creation during tough economic times, the White House calendar indicated.

The meeting also was expected to include discussions on the role innovation will play in securing long-term economic strength and stability, the White House said.
