SIMI VALLEY, Calif., July 2 (UPI) -- One person was reported killed and four others wounded in a shooting at a dental office in Simi Valley, Calif., police said.

A suspect surrendered after barricading himself inside the Family Dental Care clinic Wednesday for about an hour, delaying paramedics from getting to the victims, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Bill Nash, a spokesman for the Ventura County Fire Department, said one person was pronounced dead at a hospital. Four others were taken to hospitals with moderate injuries, he said.

The alleged shooter, who had not been identified, was expected to go before a judge Thursday.
