MIRAMSHAH, Pakistan, June 30 (UPI) -- Jet bombers hit Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal area Tuesday, killing seven people, residents and other sources said.
The attack appeared to hit suspected militant hideouts and residential compounds in the Wacha Bibi area, west of Miramshah, Dawn reported. It wasn't known whether those killed were militants or civilians, the Pakistani newspaper said.
Twenty-seven soldiers were killed in the same area Sunday when their convoy was ambushed by militants. Army officials said 10 militants died in a counter attack.
Also Tuesday, Dawn reported militants who ended their truce with the government Monday have decreed that no more than five people may congregate together in the region. Tribesmen also have been told to stay away from political administrative offices or to seek jobs with the government or security forces, Dawn said.
Pamphlets distributed in the area said the penalty for violating the militants' orders would be death.
