MORONI, Comoros, June 29 (UPI) -- A jetliner carrying 143 passengers and a crew of 11 from Yemen to Comoros crashed in the Indian Ocean Tuesday, aviation officials said.

Yemenia Flight 626 was about an hour away from Moroni, the capital of the island nation of Comoros, when it went down, officials with the national airline Yemenia told CNN.

The jetliner, an Airbus 310, departed Sanaa, Yemen, at 9:30 p.m. local time for what is normally a 4 1/2 hour flight to Moroni. There was no indication of foul play, officials said.

Most of the passengers on the plane are Comoran, an airport official in Sanaa told CNN
