LOS ANGELES, June 29 (UPI) -- Detectives were interviewing doctors who treated or prescribed medications to pop icon Michael Jackson, a law enforcement source said Monday.

The source didn't know whether prescription drugs contributed to Jackson's death last week at age 50 but investigators want to know more about the pop star's medical condition and the medications he took, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

Craig Harvey, chief of operations of the Los Angeles County coroner's office, said authorities took two large bags of "medical materials" Monday from the Los Angeles mansion where Jackson died. Authorities told the Times they also had taken prescription medications from the mansion last week.

An autopsy was completed Friday, but a cause of death will remain undetermined for several weeks as authorities await toxicology results.

Also Monday, a judge ruled Jackson's mother can be the temporary legal guardian of his three children.

Los Angeles County Probate Judge Mitchell Beckloff granted a request by Katherine Jackson to retain temporary custody of "Prince" Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., 12; Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, 11; and Prince Michael Jackson II, 7, CNN reported.

CNN said an Aug. 3 hearing has been scheduled for Katherine Jackson's request to become the children's permanent guardian.

The Jackson family also filed a petition with the court asking that Katherine Jackson be appointed the administrator of Michael Jackson's estate and that the children be named his sole beneficiaries, CNN said.
