HANOVER, Mass., June 28 (UPI) -- Massachusetts police said a Hanover man was in custody Sunday on charges he allegedly kidnapped, shackled and intended to rape a 6-year-old neighbor girl.

Justin Shine, 26, was hospitalized for injuries suffered when he was arrested Saturday on kidnapping and attempted rape charges.

WCVB-TV in Boston said Shine allegedly grabbed the child while she was riding her bike in her neighborhood and then shackled her ankles.

"She was shackled with an official piece of equipment, the kind you may have seen on prisoners going in and out of courthouses," said Hanover Police Chief Walter Sweeney.

Shine is to be arraigned Monday in Plymouth County court.
