SHANGHAI, June 27 (UPI) -- The collapse Saturday of a partially built, 13-floor apartment building killed one worker in Shanghai, police said.

The building fell about 5:30 a.m., fatally trapping a 28-year-old worker in rubble and shaking the neighborhoods around it, Xinhua, China's state-run news agency, reported.

"It was just like an earthquake," witness Zhang Supong told China Daily.

Construction of the building has been halted pending an investigation of the collapse, including reports that cracks had appeared Friday on a flood prevention bank near the apartment building, Xinhua reported.
