MANCHESTER, England, June 26 (UPI) -- A 15-year-old boy in Britain is facing at least 12 years in jail for killing a 2-year-old child because she was constantly crying, a judge says.

The Times of London said Friday Karl McCluney was convicted by a Manchester Crown Court jury of killing young Demi Leigh Mahon while babysitting the child for her mother on July 18, 2008.

Authorities accused McCluney of violently beating Mahon after the child refused to be quiet. The 2-year-old was found later with more than 68 injuries to her body.

McCluney's defense team argued during his four-day trial the teenager, who allegedly went back to watching television following the deadly beating, had a so-called abnormality of mind.

The jury in the murder case also heard how the teen a below-average IQ and a severe conduct disorder, The Times reported.

The newspaper said the reported symptoms of the teen's disorder included temper tantrums and fighting. No date was given for McCluney's sentencing on the murder charges.
