LOS ANGELES, June 24 (UPI) -- White voters in Los Angeles are more likely to describe themselves as liberal than blacks and Hispanics in the city, a poll released Wednesday said.
The poll of 1,500 voters for the Los Angeles Times found the neighborhood with the highest number of self-described conservatives is South Los Angeles, which is mostly black and Hispanic. More than one-third, 35 percent, of voters there said they are conservative.
Among whites overall, 40 percent said they are liberal -- about twice the national average. Another 36 percent said they are moderate and 22 percent conservative.
Among blacks, 27 percent called themselves liberal and 28 percent conservative. About one-third of Hispanics said they are conservative and 29 percent liberal.
The poll was done by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research.
