GRAND FORKS, S.D., June 24 (UPI) -- A North Dakota woman has pleaded guilty to child neglect for breastfeeding her 6-week-old infant while she was intoxicated, police say.

Stacey Anvarinia, 26, was arrested at a home in Grand Forks after police responded to a call there on an unrelated matter, the Grand Forks Herald reported Wednesday.

Prosecutor Meredith Larson told District Judge Sonja Clapp officers were concerned about the infant's welfare after they saw signs Anvarinia was intoxicated.

Larson said officers were told by a local hospital that breastfeeding while intoxicated was not good for the infant.

"Ms. Anvarinia was notified of that, and she continued to make attempts to breastfeed," Larson said.

She is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 7.
