BOSTON, June 21 (UPI) -- A 23-year-old medical student accused of killing a masseuse he met on the Craigslist Internet site has been indicted, prosecutors said Sunday.

Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said Philip Markoff will be arraigned on first-degree murder, armed robbery, armed kidnapping and related charges Monday morning in Suffolk Superior Court, The Boston Globe reported. The indictment had been handed up by a grand jury Thursday, the newspaper said.

Markoff is accused of fatally shooting Julissa Brisman, 26, on April 14 with a gun he purchased under a different name.

The slaying occurred four days after Markoff allegedly bound and robbed Trisha Leffler, a 29-year-old prostitute from Las Vegas. He also is suspected in a third attack in Rhode Island, the newspaper said.

Authorities allege he used disposable cell phones and temporary e-mail addresses to make appointments with his targeted victims, then used plastic ties and duct tape to restrain them.

Markoff, jailed since his April 20 arrest, maintains he is innocent.
