COVINGTON, La., June 19 (UPI) -- Authorities said Friday they have recaptured three of the four inmates who escaped from a jail in Covington, La.
Police in St. Tammany Parish, La., told The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune escaped inmates Gary Slaydon, Eric Buras and Jason Gainey were all captured Friday morning, while authorities are still searching for inmate Timothy Murray.
"We won't relax until we catch him," Sheriff Jack Strain said of Murray, who escaped with his fellow inmates from St. Tammany Parish jail Thursday night.
Murray, along with two of the other inmates, was being held on murder charges when the escape took place.
Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. George Bonnett said the fourth inmate was facing attempted murder charges. Details regarding Thursday's escape were not reported.
The Times-Picayune said the search for the inmates involved more than 100 deputies, along with state and area officials.
The search has included door-to-door visits to area homes to ensure the fugitives had not hidden in the area or taken any area residents hostage.
