Police link Fla. killing to serial killer

ORMOND BEACH, Fla., June 19 (UPI) -- The death of a man found in Florida's Tomoka State Park in 2007 may be the work of a serial killer who plagued both Florida and Georgia, police say.

WFTV of Orlando, Fla., reported online that detectives suspect the individual who killed Michael Louis and left his dismembered body in the Florida park may also be responsible for six additional killings in the state and Georgia.

Louis' body was found in Tomoka State Park in December 2007 and authorities have been unable to determine a motive for the killing.

"We really have not been able to put together a solid motive why somebody would have wanted to do this to him," said Jamie Gogarty, a police official in Ormond Beach, Fla.

Police have been investigating Gary Hilton in relation to the killing and have him as a suspect in six additional killings. Hilton is currently incarcerated after being convicted of decapitating and dismembering a Georgia woman.

WFTV said while police would not offer specific details regarding the renewed investigation into Louis' death, Gogarty confirmed police were looking into similar killings such as one in Miami last month.
