Report: Man admits history of sex crimes

SEATTLE, June 18 (UPI) -- Prosecutors in King County, Wash., allege a man convicted of child molestation has admitted he sexually assaulted young girls for two decades.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said David Wissing Jr. allegedly confessed to spending at least 20 years targeting young girls prior to his arrest and conviction in 1996, The Seattle Times said Thursday.

Prosecutors filed a petition this week detailing the lengthy history of alleged sex crimes perpetrated by Wissing. The 55-year-old recently completed a 13-year prison sentence for his 1996 conviction and prosecutors want him to be civilly committed.

If a convicted sex offender is deemed a danger to the public, they can be confined indefinitely under Washington state law.

Prosecutors allege in the petition that in addition to molesting three girls as part of the 1996 case, Wissing had a history that included numerous acts of inappropriate behavior with children.

The Times said prosecutors will attempt to prove their case against Wissing in King County Superior Court starting Friday.
