CARROLLWOOD, Fla., June 16 (UPI) -- The family of a firefighter killed in the attack on New York's World Trade Center is asking the public's help in recovering a medal given him posthumously.

The Congressional Medal of Valor awarded Richie Muldowney was stolen from the home of his mother, Ann Muldowney, in March in Carrollwood, Fla., The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Tuesday.

Carlos Pierce, 18, and Alicia Sanders, 20, were arrested and charged with the burglary but no property was recovered, Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies said.

Muldowney died Sept. 11, 2001, while helping rescue people after the terrorist attack on the Trade Center, said his family, who received his medal of valor in a ceremony at the White House.
