Two dead in small plane crash

SUNDSVALL, Sweden, June 15 (UPI) -- A small plane crash in northern Sweden Monday killed two people, officials said.

The crash occurred shortly after the plane took off from Midlanda airport in Sundswvall. .

The plane took off behind another Swiss-registered two-seater aircraft, both headed for Skovde in the southern part of Sweden, the news agency TT reported.

Lars Grantinger of the Gothenburg flight rescue center told the news agency the pilot reported engine trouble shortly before the low-flying plane fell. It landed on a grassy area around 100 meters (about 109 yards) from the runway, the airport manager said.

Further information on the crash is expected later in the day.
