MEXICO CITY, June 15 (UPI) -- The suspected head of Mexico's Cardenas Guillen drug cartel has been arrested by the Mexican military, federal defense ministry officials say

Authorities said military forces apprehended Juan Manuel Jurado Zarzoza, who also went by the monikers El Puma and El R, and three other suspects on Saturday, CNN reported Monday.

Zarzoza is suspected of running all of the Cardenas Guillen cartel's criminal activities in the city of Cancun, including acts of extortion and kidnapping, along with various drug activities, officials said.

The defense ministry said authorities also confiscated 19 firearms, four vehicles, 95 pounds of marijuana, 35 pounds of cocaine and 2,500 doses of crack cocaine.

The ministry told CNN that 25 men were also arrested last week in an unrelated case. The detained suspects stand accused of posing as soldiers and burning businesses and homes in the city of Nicolas Bravo.
