WASHINGTON, June 14 (UPI) -- The suspect wounded in the killing of a guard at Washington's Holocaust Memorial Museum is expected to recover, the FBI said.
James von Brunn, 88, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Stephen Tyrone Johns.
Von Brunn allegedly shot Johns Wednesday when Johns opened the door of the museum for von Brunn, a self-proclaimed white supremacist sentenced to six years in prison in 1981 for trying to kidnap Federal Reserve Board members.
Von Brunn has been hospitalized since Wednesday for wounds inflicted by other security guards at the museum. He was in stable condition and expected to survive, the FBI said in a statement released Saturday.
Handwritten notes allegedly found in von Brunn's car said the "Holocaust is a lie" and that President Obama "was created by Jews," an FBI affidavit said.
"Obama does what Jew owners tell him to do. Jews captured America's money. Jews control the mass media. The First Amendment is abrogated -- henceforth," said the message, allegedly signed by von Brunn, CNN reported.
