BOSTON, June 13 (UPI) -- Thousands of people marched Saturday in Boston's 39th annual Gay Pride Parade.

Mayor Thomas Menino and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick joined the throngs, WHDH-TV reported.

Organizers told The Boston Globe 127 groups had registered and there were 46 floats and trucks. They expected at least 10,000 marchers with a crowd of half a million lining the route.

The youth group of the First Parish of Sudbury, a suburb 20 miles west of Boston, decided to take part in the parade several weeks ago. Adam Blake, 14, was dressed for the occasion with a top hat in rainbow colors.

"It's just a very inviting community," he told the Globe. "It's great to come and represent and have a lot of fun."
