MOSCOW, June 12 (UPI) -- The Russian government says electricity will be restored by Friday evening to homes that lost power during violent thunderstorms in central Russia.
The Thursday night storms knocked out electricity to more than 19,000 homes in the Vladimir and Tver regions and caused the death of one resident, the official Russian news agency Itar-Tass reports.
A woman was killed in the Vladimir region by a falling tree.
Itar-Tass says dozens of trees and several billboards were knocked down in Moscow by gale-force winds that accompanied the thunderstorms.
Weather forecasters said heavy rain and thunderstorms were expected to continue Friday.
